Understanding TBIDs
The Mechanics of TBIDs
Step 1
Funding Structure
TBIDs are funded through assessments collected from participating businesses, typically lodging establishments, which are then reinvested into tourism promotion and infrastructure improvements.
Step 2
Management and Oversight
A governing board, composed of local business leaders and stakeholders, oversees the TBID operations, ensuring that funds are allocated effectively to support tourism growth.
Step 3
Implementation Process
The establishment of a TBID involves community engagement, proposal development, and approval by local government, ensuring that all voices are heard in the planning process.
Economic Growth and Community Engagement
Benefits of TBIDs for Local Businesses
Tourism Business Improvement Districts (TBIDs) offer a strategic advantage for local businesses by fostering economic growth and enhancing community engagement. By pooling resources, businesses within a TBID can implement targeted marketing campaigns, attract more visitors, and increase revenue. This collaborative approach not only boosts the local economy but also strengthens community ties, as businesses work together towards common goals. Additionally, TBIDs provide a platform for businesses to have a unified voice in tourism-related decisions, ensuring that their interests are represented and prioritized.

Planning Process for TBID Establishment
The journey to establish the Trinity County TBID involves a comprehensive planning process with clearly defined timelines and milestones. This section outlines the key steps taken to bring this initiative to fruition.

Spring 2025
Initial Research and Feasibility Study
In the Spring of 2025, we conducted extensive research to assess the feasibility of a TBID in Trinity County. This phase involved gathering data on tourism trends, local business needs, and potential economic impacts.

Summer 2025
Stakeholder Engagement and Proposal Drafting
We are currently engaging with key stakeholders, including local business owners, government officials, and community leaders, to finalize a comprehensive TBID proposal. Lodging business owners are invited and encouraged to recommend changes to draft documents.

Fall 2025
Formal Petition Phase
This Fall we will begin the petition phase of this process. All documents must be in final form before engaging loding business owners in the petition process. A weighted majority of lodging business owners must sign the petition for this to move forward. Weighting is based on historical TOT contributions.

2026
Final Approval and Implementation
By 2026, we hope to secure final approval from relevant authorities and begin the implementation of the TBID. This phase will involve setting up the necessary infrastructure and launching targeted marketing campaigns to promote Trinity County as a top tourist destination.
